I like the election season as much as the next guy. The mudslinging and debates are awesome entertainment, especially this time. It is all quite entertaining to say the least.
But, this year is the first time I have really been huge on social media. Whether it be Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, or whatever social media platform I log in to, I am assaulted with the “Did you register to vote?” “Find your polling places” and “Get out and vote!.” I say enough is enough.
I am annoyed as hell by all of these messages to get out and vote. They even penetrated my Sunday afternoons with this NFL commercial saying to get out and vote. I am not the demographic for these thousands of messages. I ALREADY VOTED!!
I get the push to get people to vote. I tell all my students that they should vote. It is the most important thing a US citizen can do. I know that, understand that, and explain that to all who don’t already know that. I am doing the job. There should be a button on all these social media platforms to say “I already voted so stop showing me the stupid messages.”
I’ll end this rant with a very simple demand to the social media platforms that most of you probably found this on: STOP TELLING ME TO FRIGGIN VOTE I ALREADY DID!!
That is all.
