We’ve made it y’all. It’s the end of the NFL season as we know it. It is Super Bowl Sunday. There isn’t much left to say. Other than, what a year it has been. Nobody wants to hear me pontificate about anything else. The talking is done and it’s time to put up or shut up. Before we give you our choices for the game, take a look at how we did a couple weeks ago in the Conference Championship games, and what that means for the Playoff records:
Conference Championship Round Records:
Blind Owl: 1-1
Concret3Cowboy: 0-2
BrendawnoftheDead: 0-2
Total Playoff Records
Blind Owl: 5-7
Concret3Cowboy: 5-7
BrendawnoftheDead: 4-6
It isn’t too often in this competition that we have one game left and two of us are tied for the lead. We’ve finally come here. Who will win the playoff competition? Will the Cowboy get his coveted consolation prize? Or will I take that from him as well as the regular season title? Read these and find out. Then enjoy the game!
SF @ KC: SF -1.5
Blind Owl: It’s tired, and everyone has said it, but I think everyone outside of Chiefs Kingdom is sick of KC in the Super Bowl. Brendawn should know that this is how everyone felt about his Patriots for two decades. This has the potential to be one of the better Super Bowls in recent history. These teams are evenly matched. Where one is weak, the other is strong. Obviously, the Chiefs have one of the best QBs in the game, and the 49ers have one of the best pass rushes to combat that. The Chiefs have like 2 weapons on offense, whereas San Fran has seemingly endless amounts. If the Chiefs want to win, Chris Jones NEEDS to dominate the middle of the line. If he can’t, it’s going to be a long day for the run defense. On the flip side, somebody needs to shut down Travis Kelce on those infuriating Mahomes scramble drills. My guy Big Cock Brock needs to get going early. They can’t handle a slow start like they had against Detroit. Reid and Mahomes won’t let that kind of a comeback happen. I think the 49ers will do this and I am going to pick them for 2 reasons. The first being that they’re the more complete team. The Chiefs have a great QB, but eventually something needs to give. Mahomes will be harassed and Travis Kelce will have company all game. San Fran wins by a score of 34-23.
The second reason I’m picking San Fran has to do with winning this competition. I’m tied with the Cowboy now and I am picking before him. I set the tone. He has a Sophie’s choice now. He can concede at least half of the Playoff Title to me, or he can pick the team he hates more than anything. I’ve played this perfectly, because no matter what happens, the Cowboy is miserable. Your move big guy…
Concret3Cowboy: I’m going to pick this like how I picked most of the Broncos games against the season. I’m going to protect my feelings. It is nice that the Owl picked the 49ers but I’ve planted on picking the Chiefs the entire time. I feel it in my bones. That awaiting to be left hurt and curled up in a corner of a room as the Chiefs dance as their confetti falls around them. I don’t want that to happen obviously, I’m very much over the Chiefs. There isn’t a single thing I like about them. At least with the Pats we had deflate gate, spy gate, Kraft's happy endings and Gronk stuff to laugh at. But the Chiefs? Everything they do hurts. From Mahomes family being the people they are, to Travis Kelce raising his fuck boi-ness with the swifties. There is nothing but cringe and pain. Every way I win. I either enjoy the Chiefs losing or I enjoy winning the playoff pick ems while my streak of such continues on as I’ve won every before. Either way, I’ll be dancing like Mahomes’ brother on the Sean Taylor tribute in the end. Hell, maybe the Chiefs lose by 1 and I double win.
BrendawnoftheDead: I'm reasonably certain that I will get burned for this but I'm going with my gut, 49ers are taking this one. They have looked bad in the first half of each playoff game, they looked significantly more beatable in the second half of the season, and Brock purdy has a striking resemblance to Lee Harvey Oswald… The Chiefs just have not impressed me all year. When teams commit to running the football, they find success. The Chiefs offense is significantly less dynamic than it's previous iterations and Kelce, while still effective, looks a bit diminished. I think the 49ers have enough talent on defense to take away Kelce and maybe force mahomes to get rid of the ball early, at least enough to keep them under 28 points. I think the 49ers take this one 27-24. McCaffrey will score 2 touchdowns and take home MVP.
