The regular season is over. I lost. Pretty badly. So I’ll just show you the records and let the Cowboy have his moment.
2022 Regular Season Final Records:
Blind Owl: 119-141-8
Concret3Cowboy: 128-132-8
BrendawnoftheDead: 122-138-8
Message from the victor, the Almighty Concret3Cowboy: It’s over, I have finally returned to where I belong. On top of the mountain of dreams, a place where only champions reach and the songbirds sing their names. Those songs echo down the steep mountain passes and reach those that have failed. Fueling their own dreams and desire to reach the top. The Owl lays back in the valley with broken wings, Brendawn is.. Well dead. The Cowboy is atop the mountain, by himself but not alone. Singing his own song. Song of Glory
It’s playoff time. The records are clean. A fresh start is a great thing. And I have less games to set up so that’s a plus. Here we go…
SEA @ SF: SF -10
Blind Owl: The playoffs are starting with a bang here. A divisional matchup in the Wildcard round. This will be the third time the Hawks and 9ers have squared off this year. The 49ers top the list of a lot of people’s Super Bowl favorites. The fact that they have a 3rd string QB and playing a divisional opponent makes me think it could be a setup. The big spread adds to my nerves also. Everything is pointing me to pick the Seahawks to cover. But I just can’t. Call it whatever you want. I’m just blinded (even more) by my Seattle hatred. GO 9ERS!!
Concret3Cowboy: It's tough to beat a team 3 times in the same season. The gap is pretty big between these teams, San Fran has beaten the Seahawks by 8 points the first matchup… then 20 the second. Seattle has fallen off after what has been a good season for them. Give me the 49ers here.
BrendawnoftheDead: Big Boy spread but San Fran is a big boy team. The Seahawks did everything they could to lose last week but the refs love screwing over the Lions, even if they aren’t currently playing. The Seahawks offense has no rhythm at this time and you need to score a LOT of points to beat San Fran. Too much talent on offense, too much talent on defense. 49ers win huge
LAC @ JAX: LAC -1.5
Blind Owl: You know something? I kind of wanted the Chargers to win. Then I saw Brandon Staley got his guys hurt in a meaningless game. I know Mike Williams and Bosa are always hurt, but come on. There was no need to play them. If I’m Justin Herbert, I would do my best to get out of the AFC West. Especially with Mahomes hanging around for the rest of eternity. Maybe try and find my way to the NFC South or something? This will be an entertaining game. I think Herbert is a lot better than Trevor Lawrence right now. Unfortunately for him, his weapon’s are always hurt. The Jags are hot right now. So I’ll ride with the hot hand. Gimme the Jags.
Concret3Cowboy: I like the Jags here, the Chargers played their starters late into the game with the Broncos just to get Williams hurt and to ultimately lose. Traveling across the country, coast to coast, also won’t help a team that has a bum head coach. The Jags have the better defense and that's enough for me.
BrendawnoftheDead: The battle of which QB has the better hair? Herbert, controversial but going with it anyway. On to the game, the Chargers low key stink. They have a ton of talent but they somehow managed to both under perform and win more games than they had any right winning. Also their coach is stupid. The Jaguars aren’t great either, but they’ve played their best football down the stretch. The Jags will pull off the slight upset.
MIA @ BUF: BUF -13.5
Blind Owl: Tua has the squishiest of brains right now. Feel bad for the guy to be honest. Not that he’s great but, he’s better than whoever the Phins will roll out. I’m just glad I didn’t have to watch that dreadful Jets/Dolphins game last week. But Miami did me a favor and kept the Patriots out of the playoffs. As a consolation prize, they’ll get bent over the sink by the Bills, then Tom Brady will be in Miami next year. So that’s fun.
Concret3Cowboy: I can’t believe there are actual talks about McDaniel being fired from being the Miami head coach. Every year I wonder why people are more passionate about their football coaches over their government leaders but I digress. I don’t like believing that Buffalo is destined now since the Hamlin incident. But they are still a much more loaded team than the Dolphins so I’ll take the giant spread, but I don’t like it.
BrendawnoftheDead: HAMMER THE OVER, I REPEAT, HAMMER THE OVER! Buffalo vs a 3rd string QB, need I say more?
NYG @ MIN: MIN -3
Blind Owl: This one is weird. The Vikings are so much better than the Giants. But they are some of the biggest choke artists in the NFL this year. They gave Green Bay hope and almost lost to the Colts before Matt Ryan told them to hold his beer. The Giants hot start and the Commanders benching Taylor Heinicke kept them in the playoffs. It wouldn’t shock me if Captain Kirk puked all over himself in this game. The Vikings just keep playing to their opponents skill level. It’s all about the start. If the Vikings start hot, they’ll blow them out. But if the G-Men hang around, Minnesota is in trouble. I’ll take the Vikings, but I’m unsure about it.
Concret3Cowboy: I am unsure, which is totally silly since the Vikings are a 13-4 team facing a 9-7-1 team.. And then the spread is this. Both teams have new coaches, but the Vikings do have an experienced roster. Have to take the 13-4 team with the home field advantage -3 point spread.
BrendawnoftheDead: I don’t trust Minnesota. They have bad losses and a lot of just barely wins. With that being said, they have a ton more firepower than the G-Men, like a tactical nuke vs a not recently sharpened dagger. If it is a shootout, the Vikings take care of business. If it is a grind em out game, the Giants are better equipped. Going with the Vikings despite their Jeckyl and Hyde nature, they just have more talent in the end.
CIN @ BAL: CIN -9.5
Blind Owl: No Lamar? Who’s ready to go to bed early on Sunday night? Cincy by roughly 892 points.
Concret3Cowboy: The Bills may be seen as the destined team, but the Bengals are a team on a mission. They don’t look like they did in the beginning of the year and have turned on just when you want to turn on. The Ravens did beat the Bengals in the early part of the season, but that was with Lamar and Huntley is no Jackson. Give me Joe Brrr and the stripes.
BrendawnoftheDead: HAMMER THE OVER, I REPEAT, HAMMER THE OVER! The Ravens have no Lamar and are far too limited. The Bengals
DAL @ TB: DAL -2.5
Blind Owl: There is only 1 reason the Cowboys should lose this game. Does Tom Brady have it in him still? Although it would be funny if Dallas lost in the playoffs again, it’s tough to pick against them. This game will be a lot closer than it should be. Both these teams looked putrid last week. Talk about backing into the playoffs. You know what, I’ll root for chaos. Give me the Bucs.
Concret3Cowboy: God, the Bucs are really going to beat the Cowboys aren’t they. NO!!!! Give me dem boys.
BrendawnoftheDead: Can’t believe I’m doing this but picking Tampa. The Bucs have the defense to frustrate Prescott (again). He threw far too many picks this year and he will throw a few more. Tampa is hard to run against, which is what Dallas is good at and will try to do in vain. The Bucs are a bad offense, but they won’t need to score that much. Brady finds a way to win a playoff game with a team possessing a losing record if only to add one more ridiculous accomplishment to his absurd resume.
