2022 Week 3 NFL Picks

Updated: Sep 26, 2022

We’re getting worse. I don’t have much to say other than, Week 2 sucked. At least the Broncos won and improved my mood a little bit. Don’t believe me, just take a look at the records.

Week 2 Records

Blind Owl: 4-12

Concret3Cowboy: 4-12

BrendawnoftheDead: 6-10

See what I mean? Brendawn set the pace at 6-10. That’s ugly. But I’ll say good for him. He got immediate revenge on both the Cowboy and I, as we now have to write a collaborative punishment blog which I promised would be posted on Wednesday, but wasn’t. That’s my bad. Any who, let’s see how this embarrassment impacts the overall records.

Total Records:

Blind Owl: 11-21

Concret3Cowboy: 11-21

BrendawnoftheDead: 11-21

It seems here that we’ve got us a Mexican standoff. Minus the fact that none of us competing have any sort of Mexican heritage. We are deadlocked in mediocrity going into Week 3. The Cowboy and I really need to stop sucking if we don’t want to be “collaborating” on blogs every week. Take a gander at our picks for Week 3:

PIT @ CLE: CLE -4.5

Blind Owl: What we have here is another edition of the “Terrible Thursday Night Football” series. Like we all remember TNF, this is just two average teams playing what could be a very boring game. Brendawn and I had the same thought when I sent the boys this spread. Why is Cleveland favored? They just blew a huge lead to the Jets. Now, the Browns are the more talented team. Jacoby Brissett has been good, and the defense (other than the secondary) has been good. I just really hate these AFC North matchups on TNF. I’m going to take Pittsburgh just to have the points. If I didn’t have to, I probably wouldn’t touch this one with a 426½ foot pole.

Concret3Cowboy: I’m going to ride with the Browns on this one. It doesn’t seem like the Steelers D can stop the run, and that’s what the Browns are about. I know that they just lost to the Jets, but Joe Flacco is Elite (some people might be too young to remember those conversations). The Browns secondary has been highly suspect, even before they blew a 13-point lead to the Jets. Mitch does have a good chance of burning this secondary, with umm Dionte Johnson? Thursday night games are weird, offenses tend to condensed offensive game plans. However, that doesn’t mean low scoring, but this is an AFC North game. AFC North likes to beat up on each other, so expect both teams to try to set the pace on the ground. So I’m siding with the more effective running game. Remember Najee is injured? He wasn’t listed with any injury against the patriots last week but this injury did initially pop up on August 1st. He had his worst career game against the Bengals in week 1, and finished with 89 total yards against the Patriots in week 1. In the loss last week Chubb had 87 yards rushing with 3 tds, and added 26 yards receiving. Hunt added another 58 yards rushing. Oh the week before the duo had 187 yards rushing. I felt like I had to explain myself a bit here because it’s the Browns and they are favored so picking them feels dirty.

BrendawnoftheDead: Get ready for piss poor NFL football. Neither team having a legitimate starting quarterback plus short rest is a recipe for sloppy. I think the Browns can and will run on this defense, but I don't trust them to hold a lead or cover. Pittsburgh looked awful last week, but the Browns blew a lead and lost to the freakin JETS. I don't know who will win, but I highly doubt it will be by more than a field goal. Let me know who wins, I don't want to watch.

BAL @ NE: BAL -2.5

Blind Owl: I’ve been seriously underwhelmed by both of these teams. More so Baltimore because they should be better. Lamar Jackson hasn’t brought them to where they should be. In New England, it’s ugly. Which is something they aren’t used to. I’ll have to go with Baltimore here only because I know they can consistently score points. The Pats haven’t proven that yet.

Concret3Cowboy: It is hard to imagine Harbaugh and the Ravens aren't bent out of shape with how they lost to the Dolphins. New England is weird, did they make someone the offensive coordinator yet?

BrendawnoftheDead: Hammer the over! NE can't keep up in a shootout.

SF @ DEN: SF -1.5

Blind Owl: It hurts to think my Broncos should be good. I don’t know what’s going on with them. If Trey Lance was playing I’d actually be much more confident in Denver. But with Jimmy G slinging the ball, I’m more hesitant. That being said I’ll pick with my heart and take the Broncos.

Concret3Cowboy: I'm picking against the Broncos just to protect my emotions when the Broncos fall flat on their face. I am one of those fans that's already over Hackett being head coach. They continued to look bad against Houston but managed to survive themselves. San Fran spanked the Seahawks last week in a rainy game, and Jimmy G is back in the saddle.

BrendawnoftheDead: Our Lord and Savior of handsomeness returns. Jimmy Geezus is better suited to win right now.

HOU @ CHI: CHI -3

Blind Owl: I know. I know. I know. Houston is bad. But Chicago is bad too. You know something, I’m going against my usual instincts. Go Texans.

Concret3Cowboy: I don't think Houston is actually that bad of a football team, Chicago really hasn't looked too bad either. This is a tough one, I am going to go with Houston. They're offense has been a lot better on the field. Chicago has gone against some tough defenses in the 49ers and the Packers so that might be skewing it a bit. I like Davis Mills more than Justin Fields, sue me.

BrendawnoftheDead: Ummm both bad so I flipped a coin.

LV @ TEN: LV -2

Blind Owl: Tennessee looks horrendous. Vegas has been looking good. Easy choice to take the Raiders.

Concret3Cowboy: This is another tough one. Both teams are coming off some pretty bad losses. The Titans got blown out by the Bills, which is going to happen to alot of teams. The Raiders lost to the Cardinals after two crazy 2-point conversions, and a fumble returned for a touchdown. The lost the Raiders took is a bigger gut punch than the blowout to the Bills. I am not too confident in this pick but I'm rolling with the Titans. Hard to see Vrabel go 0-3.

BrendawnoftheDead: Tannehill looks bad this year, King Henry isn't himself yet.

KC @ IND: KC -5.5

Blind Owl: KC by like a billion.

Concret3Cowboy: Colts are bound to have a full collapse. I said it before but now I'm going to take it a step further. Jim Irsay is not ok with his team being a joke. Frank Reich is running out of time, I don't think he's going to finish the season as the Colts head coach. This roster has been known to be a talented squad for a few years and that they are "just a quarterback away." A tie to Houston and a shutout given to them in Duvall is a problem. This is not the game where things change, the Chiefs are going to eat that ass.

BrendawnoftheDead: Indy sucks.

BUF @ MIA: BUF -4.5

Blind Owl: Miami has shown some promise. I like what they’re doing with Tua and all his weapons. Unfortunately for them, Buffalo is in another class. On a whole other planet when it comes to offense. Miami will score but Buffalo takes it easily.

Concret3Cowboy: Only a point less than the Chiefs over the Colts is kind of surprising. Tua did a pretty good job last week and the way the Dolphins stayed together with a first time head coach to make that comeback against the Ravens is pretty impressive. Buffalo is just loaded on offense and defense. I'm not ready to call the Dolphins a high powered offense, I'm not a believer in Tua. Yes, Hill and Waddle have speed but the Bills have a really good zone scheme defense.

BrendawnoftheDead: Two words, Josh Allen.

DET @ MIN: MIN -6

Blind Owl: Well, it’s not primetime and it’s the Lions. Captain Kirk will be fine and the Vikings will win big.

Concret3Cowboy:Detroit isn't favored, you know where I'm going. The Vikings just got embarrassed by the Eagles, 6 points feel like too much.

BrendawnoftheDead: I’ll take Detroit. They won't win but I hate that spread.

CIN @ NYJ: CIN -6

Blind Owl: I really don’t like what Cincy has looked like this year. Burrow is getting the snot kicked out of him and it’s starting to show. The Jets showed up against the Brownies last week. The Flacc Attack has proven he can turn back the clock every now and again. I’m going out on a limb and I’m taking the Jets to cover. If for nothing else than to piss the Cowboy off.

Concret3Cowboy: I did have Cincy as my AFC winner, boy how wrong was I (and it's only week 3). I don't know what is wrong with the Bengals but they look bad. The Jets have been good to me so far this season with these picks. They also beat the Bengals last year. Both these defenses have played really well this season, I am just not liking Cincinnati here. The Bengals need the win and will get it but I'm seeing their struggles still being there.

BrendawnoftheDead: See above.

PHI @ WAS: PHI -6.5

Blind Owl: Ok. Philly has looked good. Like really good. They beat the kaka out of the Vikings. I still have no confidence in Hurts to be a good NFL QB, but I’ve got no choice other than to pick the Eagles.

Concret3Cowboy: Another big spread here, I'm going to reach on this game. The Eagles look really good and have a complete team. Wentz has played pretty well in Washington and gets a chance to get back at his old team. Wentz is going to put up some good numbers and of course his patented few picks. Eagles will win but I think the Commanders make it interesting.

BrendawnoftheDead: Definitely Philly. A good offense vs a bad defense.

NO @ CAR: NO -2.5

Blind Owl: I have no idea about these two teams. Carolina has potential, but I’ve had bad luck picking them. New Orleans is just really confusing. I’ll take the Saints but only because I have to pick someone.

Concret3Cowboy: The Saints really should have beat the Bucs last week. After the fight they really fell apart, and the Bucs showed their composure. The refs undoubtedly helped the Bucs out before that as well. Carolina just doesn't have that good of a squad, lacking talent at about every position. However, I am going with the Panthers here. Winston is banged up pretty good and minus what I said earlier, he unraveled at the end of the Bucs game. 3 picks in a game you should have won. The Saints are going to have a good day on the ground, I could really pick either team here but I'm going to stay with Carolina.

BrendawnoftheDead: Carolina stinks.

JAX @ LAC: LAC -3

Blind Owl: Chargers all day.

Concret3Cowboy: Herbert is pretty hurt, Austin Ekeler kind of let the cat out of the bag during a stream. They had some time to lick their wounds after the Chiefs game on the last Thursday night game. I hate Trevor Lawrence but the Jags defense is very stout. The fact that Herbert is seeing the doctor that stuck a needle into his former teammate's lung is a little discomforting. Rib injuries suck, like a lot. I cracked my ribs and tore the muscle and cartilage in between them. It's odd how it hurts, you can feel pretty good but when you move a certain way it takes your breath away. Expect Herbert to be very stiff in the pocket, and expect him to be on the ground a few times.

BrendawnoftheDead: There’s no way the Jags can keep up.

LAR @ ARI: LAR -3.5

Blind Owl: My fantasy team is hoping this is a shootout. Hopefully it’s a wild west style, high scoring affair. Too bad Arizona has looked bad. Give me the Rams.

Concret3Cowboy: The Cardinals are such a weird team, I don't think that they are that good. The last time these guys played, the Cardinals got destroyed in the playoffs. Stafford is pretty banged up and as bad as Vance Joseph was as a head coach, he is a pretty good defensive coordinator. 3.5 points is pretty substantial for a divisional opponent on the road. To be honest, I'm just picking the Rams because I don't care for the Cardinals and Kyler Murray.

BrendawnoftheDead: Arizona isn't ready. Rams dominate.

ATL @ SEA: SEA -1

Blind Owl: I just hate Seattle. So much it hurts. I really want to pick against them. Like REAAAAALLLLLLLY badly. But I can’t. Seattle will take it.

Concret3Cowboy: Atlanta has been pretty good for me this season, they traveled across the country and covered against the super bowl champs. They also covered for me against the Saints in week 1. But now, they have to win the game to cover. Seattle got their call back to Earth last week when the 49ers spanked them around.

BrendawnoftheDead: Both teams stink. So Atlanta I guess.

GB @ TB: TB -1

Blind Owl: The Battle of the Bays. The War of Douchebag QBs. The smug levels are sky high in this matchup. In this scenario, one has to go with the known winner. I’ll take the Bucs.

Concret3Cowboy: I don't pick the Packers often, but here we are. They dismantled the Bears. which was expected. Now they're coming down to the bay. The Buccaneers have a very good defense and Brady is totally ok with just controlling a game while killing with 1000 paper cuts. The Bucs just aren't that healthy and don't have Mike Evans for this one. It feels like the Packers are "Hot or Not." Much like they started the season last year. I like them being hot this week.

BrendawnoftheDead: Brady has more to work with. The Bucs will win.

DAL @ NYG: NYG -1

Blind Owl: Are you feeling the Rush? I only watched about 3 minutes of the Rush and I am feeling it! The teams seem equal to me here so I’ll take point. FEEL THE RUSH!

Concret3Cowboy: This is a tricky one here, I've been pretty against the Cowboys so far this season. The Giants have been a surprise so far, Daboll has already shown here that he's the man for the job. I said in week 1 that he has his work cut out for him and he's done the work. Can Cooper Rush actually make a QB controversy like the Cowboys owner wishes for? Maybe, Cooper has played well in his time as a starter. Big Mike is ass, give me the G Men.

BrendawnoftheDead: Cooper Rush baby!
